Haven't we heard this song before? And recently? Honda and Toyota have announced recalls of vehicles because of brake problems. Toyota announced recalling about 740,000 vehicles sold in the United States for issues of possible brake fluid leaks from the master cylinder that could cause the braking performance of the vehicle to be affected and decline. Worldwide, the recall encompasses approximately 1.5 million vehicles.
In the United States, this recall includes 2005 and 2006 Avalon, 2004 through 2006 non-hybrid Highlander and Lexus RX330, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250 and IS350 vehicles. Owners will be notified in early November of how to have the brake master cylinder cup replaced with a newly designed one at no charge to consumers. Although Toyota has admitted to receiving complaints regarding the problem since 2005, the manufacturer contends that just recently compiled enough data to institute the recall.
Honda Motor Company is planning to announce the recall of an undetermined number of vehicles because of brake fluid leaks. The recall is expected to affect certain 2005-2007 model year Acura RL sedans and Honda Odyssey minivans from 2005 to early 2007.
